Involved in speaking, motor movements, judgement, and decision-making
Frontal Lobe
Directs eating, drinking, and body temperature, governs pituitary gland (linked to emotion & reward)
Hypothalamus
language center, located in left temporal lobe, involved in comprehension of speech
Wernicke's Area
Base of brain stem, controls heartbeat/ breathing
Medulla
Receives and processes sensory input for touch and body position
Parietal Lobe
Learning and memory of facts/ events
Hippocampus
Receives information from most parts of the body, and from many other regions of the brain
Cerebellar Cortex
controls sleep, helps coordinate movements
Pons
Receives auditory information, primarily from opposite ear
Temporal Lobe
Linked to emotion, fear, and aggression
Amygdala
Connects the two brain hemispheres, permitting communication between the right and left sides of the brain
Corpus Callosum
Helps control arousal, filters incoming sensory stimuli
Reticular Formation
Receives visual information, primarily from opposite visual field
Occipital lobe
Relay station for incoming/ outgoing sensory information (except smell)
Thalamus
Processing sensory input, coordinating movement & balance, nonverbal learning & memory
Cerebellum
Language center, located in left temporal lobe, involved in expressive language (talking)
