What is HR Applications?
A Board Member may take this action with respect to consideration of a file if they are concerned that they may be unable to render a fair or unbiased judgment. No further explanation is required. Board Members should inform the Board Advisor of any such request.
What is a Recusal Request?
When all competition groups and other responsibilities have been completed, the Board prepares this for the Director General including the Board's findings and recommendations for changes in policies/procedures.
What is the Final Board Report?
The final individual to clear a Board Report prior to any "After the Boards" actions being taken (with the exception of vetting).
Who is the Director General
A copy of your competition groups, divided by function and/or grade level within the function located on your SharePoint site.

What are the core eBoards tasks?
This document provides the guidelines by which Tenure and Selection Boards determine the tenure and promotability of U.S. Foreign Service employees.
What are the Core Precepts?
Board meeting with the Director General to permit the DG to ask Board Members any questions regarding their work, findings, or recommendations. This meeting is considered fully confidential and all aspects of the Board’s work may be discussed.
What is a Board Dismissal?
Action taken for each reviewed employee in the “Screening” tab of eBoards (P, R, S, L)with corresponding rank order, as necessary.
Coding
This exercise consists of two cases: Case A and Case B. Each Case contains three evaluation reports on an employee similar to or from among one of your competition groups. The Board’s task is to identify the Decision Criteria or competencies using actual evaluations.
What is Exercise II?
A document on the left side of the file that should be checked for during the certification process on whether the "date of removal" has already passed or the document should stay in the file.
What is a Letter of Reprimand?
The Board will review 40 cases (files) from the names on the competition list for each tranche of review. These tranches are randomly drawn from the full competition pool. Board Members record their individual recommendations for promotion, mid ranking, or low ranking (P, M, or L).
What is Initial Scoring?
As boards complete their statement drafting between competition groups as well as the final board report, a direct link to the Board's statement/document/report should be sent to this location for Management review and clearance.
What is the PE Clearance Tracker in the Board Advisor Workspace?
Prepare a list of those rank ordered for promotion which should include everyone coded as a “P” and the first five (5)names below the promotion line. The list should include NAME, LAST 4 SSN, and EMP ID. The final list should be in alpha order.

What are the core "before the boards" tasks?
These two coding designations under "screening" that have two numbers. The first shows your rank order among those recommended for promotion that year. The second gives the total number of employees recommended for promotion in that competition category.
What are "P" and "R" Coding?
The files recommended for promotion consideration are randomly divided into new tranches of 40. Board Members review each file again in random order. Using the forced distribution voting procedure, each Board Member makes an independent determination of what numerical vote they will give each file.
What is Detailed Scoring?

What are the core "After the Boards Actions" following dismissal?
Draft these memos for members who were recommended for, but did not reach, promotion. Only a number of members (below the line) equal to 10% of the competition list are to receive bidding memos.
What are Bidding Privileges?
The objective of this exercise is to familiarize board members with the basic procedures you used during the FSSB process. They read eight (8) files and, based on the Decision Criteria stated in the Precepts, rank order them using a scoring of each competency along a six-point scale.
