Literal: means exactly what it says
Figurative: a language that uses words or expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation

The dictionary definition of a word
What is Foreshadowing?
Hints given that tell readers what may happen in the story
What is Direct Characterization?
Can be physical or verbal
What is resolution?
the conclusion or wrap up of the story, how the story ends. sometimes, the loose ends are tied up nicely. other times, the reader does not get all the answers
What is idioms?
they are expressions that has opening apart from the meaning of it indirect words
What is Indirect Characterization?
The author reveals the character's personality without directly telling the reader
What are exposition and inciting force?
exposition: sets the stage by introducing the settings and characters.
inciting force: the event which initiates the action or sets the story in motion
What are complications and rising action?
complications: events which complicate the problem, making it harder to solve
rising action: series of events which lead to climax
What are climax and falling action?
climax: the turning point, intense moment, high point of story, either mentally or in action.
falling action: the events that follow the climax leading up to the resolution
