What is the shape of DNA?
DNA is a double helix shape.
What are the states of matter?
The states of matter are gas, liquid and solid.
What is a cell in a circuit?
Supplies electrical energy. Two of them or more create a battery.
What is an abiotic part of an environment?
Abiotic parts of an environment are non-living things which can interact with biotic parts (living).
What should you do if someone bursts into flames in the classroom?
Grab the fire blanket and smother the flames.
What is a chromosome?
Chromosomes are tightly wound DNA stored inside the nucleus. There are 46 chromosomes in every cell.
How many atoms are in the compound BeCl₂?
3
Name three types of energy.
Mechanical, kinetic, chemical, solar, nuclear, and thermal.
How can you recognise a bias?
-Think about speakers job
-Learn speakers background (religion, upbringing...)
-Look for words like : "My opinion," and "I think,"
What is asexual reproduction?
Asexual reproduction is when one organism creates another organism by itself.
What are mutations?
A change to ones genetic make up. Positive mutations help an organism. Negative mutations decrease an organisma chance or survival. Neutral mutations do not effect the organism.
What are the 4 points of the KMT?
-All matter is made of tiny particles
-There is space between the particles
-Particles are always moving
-Energy makes particles move
How many amps does it take to stop a human heart?
10
How is a food web different from a food chain?
A model of feeding relationships that show a network of interacting and overlapping food chains. It shows how all organisms in an ecosystem are connected.
What is the Bohr diagram of fluorine?
What is a zygote and how is it formed?
A single cell made from fusing a sperm and egg-diploid. It is the first cell that will develope into an offspring. Once it under goes many rounds of mitosis it will become an embryo.
What patterns are on the periodic table?
Atomic size increase from right to left and top to bottom. In the bottom left corner are the largest atoms.
How and why do electrons flow in a circuit?
Voltage moves elecrons in a circuit. The speed of the current is measured in amps. Resistors slow down the speed of the current.
What is the greenhouse effect?
The greenhouse effect happens when to many greenhouse gases are in the atmosphere which causes the suns radiation to become trapped in the atmosphere and heat up the earth.
What is the voltage of a circuit if the current is 5a and the resistor is 6Ω?
V=IxR
V=5x6
V=30v
What are cytokinesis and mitosis and how are they different?
In mitosis a nucleus goes through one round of PMAT (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase). Creates 2 seperate but identical nuclei. Cytokinesis creates 2 seperate but identical cells. Takes place at the end of meiosis and mitosis. Mitosis seperates nuclei and cytokinesis seperates cells.
What is the difference between a covalent and ionic compounds?
Covalent compounds are non-metals only. They form when 2 or more non-metals share electrons and form covalent bonds. Ionic compounds form when ionic bonds form between positive and negative ions.
Differentiate series and parallel circuits.
Parallel circuirts have multiple loads on different paths so if one circuit doesn't work the rest still do. Series circuits have multiple loads on the same path and if one load stops working, they all do.
Out of the nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon cycles which is most important and why?
All of the cycles are equally important as they all are nessecary for making different things in the body.
Why is the phosphorus cycle different that the other ones?
Phosphorus is not a gas and therefore not in the atmosphere.
