Similar: QA's and BA's are both capable of gathering functional requirements and can write test cases and scenarios. (Will depend on experience/pedigree of BA and QA)
Different: The BA is the traditional liaison between the technical development side and the business units/stakeholders. Also, the BA is tasked with defining the scope of work before gathering req's while the QA already knows their scope of work.
