Why do we ask wh- questions? 

We use wh- questions to ask for specific information. 

Wh- questions begin with wh- words such as: who, what, where, when, why, which, whose, how, how many, how much, and how long.

Why do we use "for" with the present perfect? Give an example. 

"For" shows how long something has lasted. We use the present perfect with "for" to show that something started in the past and continues into the present.

Since shows when something started. We use the present perfect with "since" to show that something started at a particular point in the past and continues into the present. 

"He has taught 3rd grade since 1995."

Why do we use present perfect with the word "ever" to ask certain questions? Give an example. 

We use the present perfect with "ever" to ask if something has happened at any point before now. In this case, we are using present perfect to ask about the indefinite past. 

"Have you ever been to Thailand?"

"Have you ever gone sky diving?"

We don't use an auxiliary with "be."
