What is the difference between empathy and sympathy?
Empathy is when you are putting yourself in someone else's shoes and trying to make them feel better. Sympathy is saying something along the lines of "well at least you didn't go through...". It's more of comparing rather than trying to understand what someone is going through.

Think of when how many weeks before the grading period you can turn assignments in and what is the highest score you can receive on late work?
Late work will be accepted up until one week before the last day of the grading period (midterm, quarter). After that, it will not be accepted. In addition, students will receive a grade equal to at most 70% of the grade the student would have originally earned if the assignment was turned in on the actual due date
