Adam and Eve should take care of the plants and animals in the garden and do not eat fruit from the Tree of good and evil. If they eat fruit from the tree, they will die. God gives us rules to protect us from sin.

Obedience means to listen and follow instructions to the best of our ability. God wants us to follow His commandments to the fullest of our abilities.

The original punishment from eating the fruit was death. Instead of killing Adam and Eve, God showed mercy. He killed animals and used their skins to cover their shameful nakedness and sent them out of the Garden of Eden.

When Adam and Eve sinned, death entered the world in two ways. They died spiritually, which means their relationship with God died. After they were sent out of the Garden of Eden, they were doomed to die physically.

The punishment for our sin is death. Instead of killing animals, God sacrificed his son. Jesus came to this world, died on the cross, and bled for all our sins. We do not have to sacrifice dead animals anymore because Jesus is our perfect sacrifice.
