What is Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a treatment modality that does not require the client to provide a narrative about their traumatic experiences and assists them with desensitization of the traumatic event through eye-movement and clinician support.

In an IM+CANS update or review, changes in the individual’s symptoms and functioning, changes in the IM+CANS presenting problems ratings, progress made on specific treatment plan goals and objectives, and explanation of any changes made to the treatment plan is documented in this section of the IM+CANS.

What is the Mental Health Summary. The Mental Health Summary in an IM+CANS review should document what changes in symptoms and functioning have occurred over the past 180 days.  For an IM+CANS update the mental health summary should provide explanation about why the IM+CANS is being updated.  The narrative should include comments regarding which treatment plan goals and objectives saw improvement, which were completed, explanation of why goals/objectives are discontinued, and information about any new goals or objectives added.
