How do we treat bio-hazardous laundry separately from other laundry?
Rinse the item in the shower, put it in the bag, resident name, up in the red bin or another building-specific process.
What should activities (and other) staff do if they are working with a resident and they become combative?
Get on the Walkie and declare a Code Orange and state the location. Clear all other residents out of the way. Use service plan interventions.
Why do we have to take Mental Health & Dementia training if we are not in resident services?
All community employees interact with our residents and these trainings provide valuable insights into resident behavior and methods for managing them.
Per the WAC, how many days does a caregiver have from their hire date to have completed their 75-hour cert of completion? How many days from hire until a caregiver has an Active certification?
120 days = 75 hours certificate
200 days = Active Certification

What is the requirement for CSLS Activities department staff regarding certification?
Most CSLS activities personnel are required to have an HCA/CNA to be able to assist the residents on the floor when needed.
How much do CSLS employees pay for the mandatory training and are they paid for attendance?
Most of the training is FREE for staff and employees are paid for their time to participate in the course. The exception to this policy is CEUs and licensures (if applicable).
When should all residents be counted and what do we do if someone is missing?
Shift change, every 2 hours for safety check, and announce Code Silver on the Walkie.
How often do you need to renew your Food Handlers card?
Typically 2 years unless you do it before the expiration date and then 3 years.
What should we do if we come across a broken vacuum in the building?
Log out/tag out and put it onto Worxhub.
What should you do if an activity is scheduled for the day but the residents aren't "into it" or you are missing supplies or everyone is asleep?
Give other activity choices that they would prefer and if they are asleep go room to room and invite them to join, and encourage participation, and offer assistance/transportation as needed.
What is the name of the program/app we use for completing annual Safety Training and what is everyone's default username and password unless changed by the employee?
The program name is Relias and everyone's default username is first initial last name and the password is Welcome1!
How do CSLS RSD staff handle residents' personal laundry?
Soiled clothes go in the hamper. Biohazard laundry goes in a red bag and is processed separately from other laundry. Bag & Label each resident's laundry separately.
How often should you change your red sanitizer buckets? And what product do we use in the water?
Every 2 hours. We use a pre-mix solution or a tsp of bleach per 1 gallon of water. Only 2 towels are allowed per bucket (submerged).
What is the proper method/process for cleaning material covered in grease in our building? (Bonus if you know the dryer answer too.)
Gets placed in orange buckt, which contains a solution of Dawn Dish soap and water, rages must be completely submerged.
End of each shift, the orange bucket goes to the laundry and the whole solution goes into the washer for laundering. When comes out of the dryer, placed on a table to cool and must be attended to until it reaches room temperature. Then fold.
What would you do if you saw a co-worker eating personal food in front of a resident in a common area?
Gently remind them that eating should be done in designated employee areas only so that residents' feelings aren't hurt by employees not sharing.
