Never while you’re an IHP student. We pay for all of the subscriptions for you
What is Treadwell Library, and why does that name keep coming up?
Treadwell is our partner library over at Mass General Hospital. We share our collections, and they run the authentication system. Don’t worry. You’re still in the right place.
True or False: Librarians never meet with students one-on-one?
False, of course. We love meeting with students to talk about their projects and the best ways to find information for them.
How can you learn to use APA formatting?
Consult Bellack Library’s APA Style guide on the Guides and Tutorials page, or enroll in the library’s online APA course in D2L.
How can you find out when the library is open?
Check the library home page. The left navigation column will always have our current hours.
Do you have my textbooks?
Maybe. We have many course textbooks in print at Bellack and as e-books, but not all. Check the Course Reserves page on the library website!
How do you borrow a book when the library staff have gone home?
Use our self check-out station at the Library Help Desk. Our collection is completely self-service and on the honor system.
Do you have to come to the library to meet with a librarian?
No. We’re happy to meet with you on Zoom instead.
What tool does the library offer to help you organize your articles and format your references?

True!
Other student spaces may be quiet from time to time, but Bellack’s quiet study room is always a quiet space.

100% of our journal subscriptions are online. Head to the Bellack Library website to start exploring.
Why does Bellack have so few books on the shelves?
We actually have lots and lots of books. They’re just mostly online. Our physical collection is mostly textbooks and patient education materials.
Can librarians help you format your citations and references?

What’s the best way to find out which journals Bellack Library has for your program?
The library has a guide for every program at the IHP. Go to the Guides and Tutorials page on their website to find yours.

Up To Date: it provides summaries of research on clinical topics to support evidence-based practice.
Will you always be able to find a librarian in the library?
Maybe not. Our small staff of 3 people can’t cover all of the library’s hours. Plus we’re frequently out of the library meeting with people like you to help you find the information you need.
How many times can I meet with a librarian?
There’s no limit. Some projects may require one meeting to get you off and running while others may require a series of meetings.
