At the time of Jensen's work, this park was divided into two halves by a major streetcar thoroughfare. Setting out to improve the park, Jensen added a monumental garden shelter, known as Flower Hall, a formal reflecting pool, a semi-circular entryway and a formal garden. In 2020, the name of this park changed by one letter to honor a different historical figure than it was previously named for.

This park is considered Jensen's finest work and was named a National Historic Landmark in 2003. The concept for this Park was first pitched in 1912 by the  to develop recreational facilities for densely populated neighborhoods. At the time, this area had a population of nearly 900,000 but only two small playgrounds. This park includes a "prairie river" flowing from two brooks and two natural-looking waterfalls. In 1953, the southern 9 acres  of the park were demolished for the Eisenhower Expressway.
