The four main types of communication are assertive, aggressive, passive, and passive-aggressive.

Assertive communicators express their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs openly. Ex"I believe that the deadline for this project is too tight". Can we discuss an extension or find ways to adjust the timeline?"

Aggressive communicators express their needs and desires in a way that can make others feel uncomfortable. Ex "This is ridiculous! If you don’t get this done now, we’ll have serious problems!"

Passive communicators avoid expressing their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs,in order to avoid any conflict that it could cause. Ex "It’s fine, I’ll just do it myself. I don’t want to bother anyone."

Passive-aggressive communicators express their feelings indirectly, often through sarcasm,or  backhanded compliments. Ex "Wow, it’s great you got that done on your own. I guess my suggestions didn’t really matter."
