What is the difference between "laughing at" someone vs. "laughing with" someone?
"Laughing at" someone suggests a mean, hurtful attitude. You're enjoying someone's embarrassment (not following the social norm) or making fun of their weaknesses.
” Laughing with” someone means you are enjoying the same things they are.
What does our social filter do?
It makes sure that some of the words in your head don’t make it into your mouth. It keeps you from saying words that cause hurt feelings. It also keeps you from saying things that might embarrass you or those around you.
