What is URI?
Respiratory viruses are viruses that cause illnesses in the respiratory system. These illnesses share similar symptoms, risk factors, and prevention strategies. Cause hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations and thousands of deaths during the fall and winter virus season.
Respiratory viruses are influenza (flu), COVID-19, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), Adenovirus, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus (common cold), Parainfluenza, Parvovirus B19 (Fifth Disease)
Symptoms: Fever, chills, fatigue(tiredness), cough, runny or stuffy nose, decreased appetite, sore throat, vomiting, new loss of taste and/or smell, headache, muscle of body aches, and diarrhea

What is the "stomach bug"?
Norovirus (name of the bug) is the most common cause of vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach sickness in the US.
Most people get sick with norovirus when someone who has the bug passes the bug to them. This can happen by touching or helping sick people, sharing food or drinks, or using the same utensils. Eating food, drinking water, or touching surfaces that have the virus on them can also make people sick.
Symptoms: A person usually develops symptoms 12 to 48 hours after being exposed to norovirus. Most common symptoms: Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain. Other symptoms: Fever, headache, and body aches
What is Hand Foot and Mouth Disease?
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common illness that usually causes a fever, sores in the mouth, and a rash on the skin. It can spread quickly in places like schools and daycare centers. Most people get better by themselves in about 7 to 10 days.
Symptoms: fever, sore throat, painful blisters in the mouth, and a rash on the hands and feet. Complications from HFMD are rare.
What is "Pink Eyes"?
Conjunctivitis, also called pink eye, can be caused by viruses, bacteria, allergies, contact lenses, chemicals, fungi, or certain diseases.
Symptoms include red eyes, thick yellow or green discharge that makes your eyelids stick together, swelling in the eyes, blurry vision, and pain or swelling in the eyelids.
You should see a doctor as soon as possible, but it’s not an emergency. Stay home for 24 hours after starting treatment or when your symptoms get better.
What to do if you have a Fever 100.4F and above?
Isolation, Handwashing, mask, drink plenty of fluids, social distancing
Take fever-reducing medication ( tylenol (acetaminophen), advil( ibuprofen).
You should call your doctor if you have a fever that lasts for more than 3 days or if your fever is 103°F or higher. If you also have other symptoms like severe headache, trouble breathing, or a rash, you should contact a doctor right away.
You should call your Pediatrician right away if you baby is less than 1 month old.

What to do if you think you have or you are diagnosed with URI?
Isolation, Handwashing, mask, drink plenty of fluids, social distancing
Take fever-reducing medication ( tylenol (acetaminophen), advil( ibuprofen), cough medication, Medications are located at the Hub.
You should call your doctor if you have a fever that lasts for more than 3 days or if your fever is 103°F or higher. If you also have other symptoms like severe headache, trouble breathing, or a rash, you should contact a doctor right away. If your symptoms or coughing is getting worse.
You should call your Pediatrician right away if you baby is less than 1 month old.

Isolation right away, monitor your temperature for fever (100.4F), drink plenty of fluids (Pedialyte), handwashing, disinfecting common surface area, bathroom
All meals will be sent to the guest room in disposable containers.
Extra fluids should be provided with meals

If your child have a fever start Isolation
If your child appears to have difficulties eating, drooling and be in discomfort call the Pediatrician for an appointment.
What to do if you have "Pink Eyes"?
Should be seen by a health care provider as soon as possible (not an emergency room) to call your provider or urgent care.
Isolate for 24 hours after medication is started or symptoms improve.

BUT: recommendation to keep social distancing, masking, handwashing for 5 days after last episode of fever.

Isolation can be stopped 24 hours after the last known episode of vomiting/ diarrhea. For fever, this means without any fever-reducing medication (Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, etc.)

When do you need to go to ER for stomach bug?
Dehydration
If you have norovirus illness, you can feel extremely ill, and vomit or have diarrhea many times a day. This can lead to dehydration (loss of body fluids), especially in young children, older adults, and people with other illnesses. Symptoms of dehydration include decreased urination, dry mouth and throat, feeling dizzy when standing up, crying with few or no tears, unusual sleepiness or fussiness.
When to seek EMERGENCY CARE
Trouble breathing, chest pain, confusion, seizure, fever 102F or above, severe dehydration may require hospitalization for treatment with fluids given through your vein (intravenous or IV fluids).
When do you need to go to ER for Hand Foot and Mouth disease?
Unlikely, very rare chances of complications
You should go to your pediatrician or urgent care for this.
