What was her contribution to Bharat?
Ahilyābāī is credited with building and reconstructing hundreds of temples across Bhārat, including many that had been destroyed by invaders. Among the most prominent of these temples are four of the twelve Jyotirliṅga sites: Vaidyanath, Ghrishneshwar, Somnath, and Kashi Vishwanath.
Ahilyābāī also renovated holy sites such as Ayodhya, Dwarka, Vrindavan, Naimisaranya, Kedarnath, Omkareshwar, and many others.
She built roads and bridges that facilitated pilgrimage to remote sites such as Badrinath. Under her direction, a constant supply of sacred Gaṅgā water was arranged to thirty-four of these sites, including many in southern Bhārat such as Tirupati and Rameswaram.
In addition to all of this, she sponsored the maintenance of paṇḍits (religious scholars) across these sites to promote the study of scriptures and spiritual practices.
