Good study habits train your brain for success. Applying effective learning methods will not only improve your grades but, more importantly, increase your long-term knowledge.

Cramming at the last minute is ineffective. Instead, try to create a study routine. Schedule specific blocks of time to study every day. Next, find the best environment that helps you concentrate. Some students do better with the silence of a library, while others need the background noise or music of a public space.

Now that you have a time and a place, you need a strategy. Look at your tasks and make a list. Setting small, manageable goals for your study session will help you work efficiently. Please adopt a study habit today and educate others on these strategies as well.

"Our cute, comfortable beach cottage is only steps from the beach!" When I read the description of Beachy Keen's rental property on the Winging Away website, this line was the clincher for me. I immediately booked the cottage for my family's vacation.

I only wish I'd read the other renters' reviews before clicking "Reserve." Yes, the cottage is located "steps" from the beach . . . if you're a giant, that is. For a mere mortal like me, the distance was better measured in blocks, which is way too far when you're toting multiple bags, beach chairs, and sun umbrellas!

But once I got over my frustration about the inaccurate description, I realized that Beachy Keen's property was, in every other way, perfect. It was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed (except perhaps for a motorized buggy to transport us to the beach!). Maybe my week in paradise has softened me up, but I'd definitely consider this cottage next time I'm in the area.

In spite of the inaccurate description of the cottages location, it was a pleasant stay.

Gas-powered cars are damaging our planet, but there is a solution: electric vehicles. These cars produce no harmful emissions, reducing air pollution and slowing climate change. Plus, electric cars save money on gas and require less maintenance. Many companies are also offering rebates and incentives to make the switch more affordable. If you care about the environment and want to save money, consider making the switch to an electric vehicle today!

Social media has become a major part of teenage life, offering both benefits and challenges. On one hand, platforms like Instagram and TikTok allow teens to stay connected with friends and access educational content. On the other hand, studies suggest that excessive social media use can lead to increased anxiety, depression, and poor sleep habits. While some experts believe setting screen time limits can help, others argue that social media is an important tool for self-expression. Ultimately, the impact of social media depends on how it is used.

The common loon is known for its mournful cry, often heard near lakes at night. North America's lakes and ponds are its natural habitat: loons are waterfowl, like ducks and geese.

In summer, the adult common loon has an iridescent black head, a black bill, and a white band around its neck. Its back is checkered with black and white feathers, while its belly is all white. In winter, the loon's bill fades to gray. Its winter plumage is gray on the back and head, while the breast, belly, and wings are white.

My family recently took a Festivity cruise, in part because we believed the company's promise of "Endless Fun for the Entire Family." In many ways, the company delivered on that promise. My wife and I laughed ourselves silly at comedy shows and boogied the evening away at dance contests while our five-year-old twins were lovingly cared for in a state-of-the-art playroom. There, indoor trampolines and climbing equipment provided them hours of glee.

That said, I was disappointed in the entertainment options for my older kids, ages thirteen and fifteen. Our ship didn't offer the laser tag or paintball the company advertised, and although it did have a waterslide and wave pool, they were often closed for cleaning. Club Fun, the teen lounge, was also an option, but my daughter said that the DJ played unfamiliar songs, and all the kids ended up staring at their phones. What was "endless" for my teens turned out to be the vacation, not the fun.

The cruise was fun for older and younger kids, but didn't have many options for teens.

As Ava dusted off the old wooden chest in her grandmother’s attic, she felt her heart race. The chest had been locked for decades, but now, with an old key she found in a drawer, she was about to uncover its secrets. Slowly, she turned the key, and with a soft click, the lid creaked open. Inside, there were yellowed letters, a golden locket, and—most surprisingly—a map with strange markings. What had her grandmother hidden all these years?

It’s obvious that our school’s current lunch period is far too short! Students barely have time to eat, let alone socialize or take a break from the stress of schoolwork. A longer lunch break would give students time to relax, improve their focus in class, and reduce stress. Other schools have already extended their lunch periods, and they’ve seen great results. If we truly care about students’ well-being, we must demand a longer lunch break immediately!

Biased! The author strongly supports extending the lunch period and uses emotional language like “far too short,” “we must demand,” and “if we truly care.” These phrases show opinion rather than neutral fact.

It is recommended that parents read to their children everyday, starting as early as six months of age. When you read with your children, you are starting them off in life as a life-long reader and learner. It is never too late to pick up a book and read; people in their eighties have learned how to read and discovered the pleasure of reading. Turn off the tv and read a book!

What is C, to persuade.

•This is an emotional appeal to do the right thing: READ!

•Also, the last sentence tells you encourages you to do something: “Turn off the television”

As a construction worker, I'm on my feet for twelve hours a day, so I'm tough on footwear. Usually, my work boots only last a few months before the soles split or the seams disintegrate, so I was skeptical when I saw the glowing advertisement for Wearever boots. Could a pair of boots really last an entire year?

The answer is yes. I purchased my Wearevers eleven months ago. Today, the leather is still unscuffed, the stitching is still solid, and the treads on the bottom of the soles are still distinct. However, I've learned that although durability is a major factor in buying boots, it's not the only factor. While my Wearever boots truly seem to be as indestructible as the advertising promises, the leather is too stiff, and the tongue digs into the top of my foot. I'll give them one more month, just to be sure, but I'm afraid my Wearevers will soon become "Wear-nevers."

The boots may be long lasting but are not comfortable.

Fast food may be convenient, but it is also loaded with unhealthy ingredients that can harm your body. Many fast food meals contain excessive amounts of fat, sugar, and sodium, which increase the risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Instead of choosing a greasy burger and fries, consider healthier alternatives like homemade meals, fruits, and vegetables. Your body deserves real nutrition, not artificial ingredients and empty calories. Make the switch today, and start feeling the difference!

Leonardo da Vinci was a Renaissance artist, scientist, and inventor known for his contributions to multiple fields. His famous paintings, such as The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, are considered masterpieces of art. In addition to his artistic talent, da Vinci made detailed scientific observations, sketching ideas for flying machines, human anatomy, and engineering designs long before modern technology made them possible. His notebooks remain valuable resources for historians and scholars studying the Renaissance era.

Neutral. The passage presents only facts about Leonardo da Vinci without personal opinions or emotional language.

Knowing how to read a city map is a valuable skill. First, figure out your location on the map. Check the street signs at the nearest intersection and use clues to help you find that intersection on the map. For example, if you are near a bridge or a park, look for those symbols on the map. The map's legend indicates what the symbols mean.

A map's compass rose reveals where north is. To establish direction, walk a block and revisit your map; compare where you were to where you are. In which direction did you travel? Then locate your destination on the map.

The map's scale indicates distance ratios; for example, an inch may be equal to five hundred feet. Now you know where you are, how to get where you are going, and how far you have to go!

For years, I've joined with local soccer players in calling for a soccer dome to be built in our city. To me, it's a no-brainer; we live in a state where winter can last six months. As one athlete stated at the recent city council meeting, our teams deserve safe, high-quality fields to play on, all year round.

However, now that the council has voted to go ahead with the project, I find myself at odds with my former soccer-playing allies. They want the dome to be built behind the recreation center, replacing the outdoor fields where community teams currently play. That plan is a bad idea; with the sport's growing popularity, our city should be increasing the number of soccer fields available to players. Besides that, when weather permits, it's healthier (and less expensive) for athletes to play on outdoor fields. I believe we should retain the outdoor fields and find an alternate location for the dome.

The proposed idea should be scrapped and its less expensive to play outdoors

The sun dipped below the horizon as Marcus realized he had strayed too far from the hiking trail. The towering trees cast eerie shadows, and the distant hoot of an owl made him shiver. He pulled out his phone, but there was no signal. Stay calm, he told himself. Remembering survival tips from a book he once read, Marcus gathered dry leaves and twigs to make a small fire. As the flames flickered to life, a rustling sound came from the bushes. Was it just the wind… or something else lurking in the darkness?

It’s time for schools to adopt a year-round schedule. The long summer break does more harm than good, causing students to forget what they’ve learned and fall behind. Schools that use a year-round calendar see higher test scores, better student engagement, and fewer discipline problems. Plus, shorter breaks throughout the year help prevent burnout. If we truly want to improve education, we must move away from the outdated traditional school calendar.

Biased! The author clearly supports year-round schooling and uses opinionated language such as “does more harm than good,” “higher test scores,” and “we must move away.” There is no mention of counterarguments.
