You need to tab or space bar over and start typing there, NOT at the left edge of the page. It looks like this:

Should you PLAY AROUND with the background colors and other tools?
NO, we did that in the practice. Only use the tools that you need.

Think in your head about what you already know about the story.
Decide who is in your next chapter, where it will happen and how it starts. (The next day, After that adventure, ....)
Decide what the problem (can be a little or big problem AS LONG as it is related to the story some way) and how it gets resolved.
WRITE!! Use a little bit of dialogue, spicy words, onomatopoeia,
CHECK YOUR WORK, REREAD!!! DO NOT SUBMIT!!!!!

YES, this lets the reader know who is speaking!! It can be before the dialogue or after the dialogue.

Word count is the number of words in a text, while character count includes every character, including letters, numbers, punctuation, and spaces.

It takes you to the next line. You use this when you are finished with your paragraph., NOT your sentence.
Should you hit the submit button at any time during the RICAS testing without checking with your teacher?
NO. You MAY NOT submit without raising your hand and having the teacher come over and give you the OK. Please wait if she is busy. Do not submit.
Is it OK to finish in 15 minutes and not check your work?
NO! A very important part of writing and doing our best is to check your work and edit!! This makes it stronger! Don't forget this part!
