Perioperative Medicine
A 65 year old male presents to your office for a pre-operative evaluation. He is scheduled to undergo R-Fem-Pop bypass next week due to severe PVD. He has a history of diabetes, CAD with DES placement 2 months prior. He is on Metformin, Atorvastatin, Aspirin, and Plavix. He inquires about what to do with his antiplatelet agents pre-operatively.
Can stop Plavix now, but must continue ASA up to surgery.
