MSU was set to play against an integrated Loyola men's basketball team in the NCAA Tournament. Due to an unwritten policy in Mississippi that prohibited white athletes from competing against non-white athletes. MSU was instructed not to play but in secret had the game against Loyola. Loyola won won 61-51.
