Similar in construction but different in function

What is homologous

What is fixity of species?

The idea that once a species appears on Earth, It never changes.

Where does exogenesis suggest life began?

Somewhere other than on Earth

Describe an inference, using an example that can be made to determine direct intervention by a designer.

An inference is a conclusion

a scientist makes about something based on

the evidence found. For example, an object

is complex enough that it could not have

happened by chance and is not random, but

specific, such as the complex structures of the

atoms and molecules that make up a cell.

What is adaptation?

Explains that certain individuals are more likely to survive in a particular environment.

400

What is the study of the evolutionary relationships among organisms?

What is phylogenetic

TRUE or FALSE

The origins of life are based on the assumptions accepted as truth

TRUE

Describe how a whale flipper is a homologous structure of the dog leg.

The whale flipper and a dog’s leg are similar in structure, but the whale flipper is used for swimming and a dog’s leg is used for running and swimming.

DAILY DOUBLE -

From a creationist perspective, what is the purpose of the phylogenetic tree? How is this

different from an evolutionary perspective?

The creationist perspective is

that the tree is used to show which organisms

are more similar. It shows which traits are

shared by multiple organisms. From an

evolutionary perspective, the tree infers that

shared traits result from a common ancestor.
