5th graders can check out up to 4 books at once.

Log into your Destiny account.

On its spine on the white sticker.
What tool should you use to mark the spot of a book on a shelf that you are looking at to possibly check out?
A shelf marker.
What should you do with your voice in the library?
Use a quiet voice.

2. They cannot be from the same series.

What does the call number tell you.
Where to find it in our library. It will tell you the section it is in and where in that section it is located.
What is the first thing you should do when you enter the library?
Check the screen for directions and follow them.
What should you do when someone else is talking during our lesson time?
LISTEN. Do not interrupt. Wait your turn.
What do you do if you choose a book and then decide you don't want to check it out?
Put it back in its spot (if you marked it with a shelf marker), or put it on the book return cart by the window. You can also give it to Mrs. R or Ms. Secret. Do NOT put it back where you "KNOW" it goes, without a shelf marker!!
How many times can you renew a book?
One time, unless it is a very long book.
What does does the call number of a Fiction (chapter book) start with?
FIC
What should you do if you cannot find the book you are looking for?
Look it up in Destiny. Use the call number. If you still can't find it, ask a classmate, Mrs. R or Ms. Secret for help.
What should you do when you hear a signal from the teacher (like the timer ringing, hand clap, lights off, or chant)?
STOP. Look at the teacher. Stop talking. Listen.
When is the library open for book checkouts?
All day! In the morning before school (after you check in with your teacher first), and during the school day until 3:30.
How do you renew a book?
Bring it with you to the library. Get in line at the checkout desk and ask Ms. Secret to scan it and renew it for you.
What do you find on a nonfiction/informational book call number?
Numbers.
What should you do if you are NOT checking out a book?
Read a magazine or book, then put it on the return cart before you leave. Do a word search or coloring sheet. DO NOT WANDER AROUND or RUN AROUND the library.
Is it okay to eat or drink in the library?
No food or drinks are allowed in the library. Water bottles may be brought only if they are on the floor beside the stool.
