What is the difference between a curbstop and a meter pit? Which homes have which?
The meter pit houses the meter and has a large dinner plate sized cover. The curbstop houses the shut off valve to homes where the meter is in the basement. the cover is much smaller, 6 inches. All homes have a curbstop; basement meters only have a curbstop and not a meter pit.

How do you use a dye-tab?
Place the tabs in the toilet tank, leave the toilet for 20-30 minutes. If when you return, there is coloring in the bowl you know you have a leak in the toilet, and the flapper likely needs to be replaced.

builders have 365 days from the initial payment to install a meter, and must install within 21 days after pick up. If not, they will be charged the difference between the tap fee in year purchased and the current tap fee.
