In the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, the player comes from the future, waking up as some Pokemon determined by a personality test. They get partnered up with another Pokemon that finds them later on. Sceptile, an important side character, also comes from the future to save the planet, but is initially seen as a criminal and a thief. The player ends up teaming up with them later in the game though.

In Rick and Morty, Rick often takes his grandson, Morty, on adventures across the cosmos. In one episode he goes to the Citadel of Ricks, a place built by Rick himself, full of other versions of himself. In this episode, we can also see references to other series. One example is from Gravity Falls, where we can see three items, a mug, a pencil, and a notepad, from a portal in Gravity Falls come out of one of Rick's portals.
