What is a DSI water heater
A DSI water heater is a gas-fired unit that uses Direct Spark Ignition to ignite the burner rather than relying on a continuously burning pilot light. When hot water is demanded, the thermostat signals the control system to open the gas valve and create a spark at the igniter. If the flame is detected by a flame sensor, heat is produced and the burner stays lit. If ignition fails, the gas supply is shut off to prevent waste or danger. This design reduces energy waste and eliminates a standing flame when the heater is not in use.
