Solid Waste
This is where we put food scraps, eggshells, and leaves so they can slowly turn into healthy dirt.
Composting
This is the dirty air that is created when factories burn fuel or when waste is burned
Pollution
This "R" means you glue or fix a broken toy so you don't have to buy a new one.
Repair
This special type of waste is very dangerous because it has poisons inside, like an old battery or a chemical cleaner.
Hazardous Waste
This is the big area of land where trash is permanently buried when it cannot be recycled or composted.
Landfill
If we recycle aluminum cans, we use much less of this—it helps keep the lights and heat on in our homes!
Energy (or electricity)
This "R" is important because it makes new products from old materials, like making a new bottle from an old one.
Recycle
Smoke or air that is full of tiny particles from a factory is an example of this type of waste.
Gas waste
This is a way to get rid of garbage by burning it, which causes air pollution, but makes the trash pile smaller.
