Camper DOs and DON'Ts
Part 2
100

This is the required ratio of campers to staff

4:1

100

Do or Don't: Give a camper a high five

Do!

100

This is the golf cart that only Shemar can use.

"Big Red" (the large, red golf cart)

100

Do or Don't: Harass your campers about drinking water

Do! Harass those little dehydrated bodies all day long. This will help avoid headaches, tummy aches, and crabby campers (among other, more serious health concerns).

200

This is when staff can use their cell phone, if needed.

At rest hour, away from campers.

200

Do or Don't: Help a camper tie their shoe laces

DO! Possibly many times a day

200

This is what you'll do every night to ensure you can be reached by radio in the event of an emergency.

Respond to the radio roll-call that leadership will do each night around 8:30/9:00pm

200

Do or Don't: Drive your able-bodied camper (or staff) to the field in a golf cart because it's hot.

Don't. The golf carts serve a purpose and should be available when needed.

300

These should not be used by campers outside of the cabin, to call/text, or for social media access.

Cell phones! Can be used for photographs, alarm clocks, listening to music at lights out.

SET RULES! Explain consequences.

300

Do or Don't: Invite a camper to sit on your lap

Absolutely do not.

300

You must be this old, and have one of these to drive a golf cart

21, valid driver's license

300

Do or Don't: Share chapstick with a camper

Ewww, don't. Send 'em to the med shed where there's lip balm galore!

400

These are the people allowed to post photographs of campers.

Camp leadership (family coordinator will share photographs with families.)

Some families do not agree to the photo release, so posting their photo could be a big deal.

400

Do or Don't: Help a camper put sunscreen lotion on their face

Do! Morning and afternoon, or as-needed

400

These are to be used for funny jokes, marking fart noises, and pranking other staff.

What is NOT the walkies/radios! Radios should be used for needed communication and emergencies. We will go over channel information at camp.

400

Do or Don't: Leave a camper alone in the cabin to finish dressing while you go to breakfast, because that oatmeal goes fast & darn it, you're not missing it again.

Don't. The oatmeal is questionable anyway.

500

This is the answer you have to have when you get a friend/follow request from a camper OR LIT... even when it's one of your all-time favorite campers whose now and LIT and you'd love to be social media friends with him, but it's just not allowed. *tear*

No, decline, nope, ignore, not allowed, see ya when you're 19.

500

Do or Don't: Help a camper put sunscreen on any part of their body other than their face.

Do not. Don't. No.

500

This is the new addition to camp that will require additional training once we're onsite

The new camp roller coaster! just kidding, it's only a small pond that may or may not be stocked with fish.

500

Do or Don't: Tell a camper, "You need to participate."

Trick Question! Kinda - you should encourage them with words, but more effective is to participate yourself and try to get them involved.
