Jacob and Rebekah tricked Isaac because he was going blind in his old age and Esau had very hairy arms. So Jacob put goatskin on his arm so he would feel hairy but his voice confused Isaac because he knew it did not sound like Esau

Jacob was on his way back home to Canaan from staying in Haran with his uncle, Laban. A stranger came up to him and began wrestling with him. Jacob’s hip socket was broken in the process. Jacob was overpowering the stranger but he said he would not let the stranger go until he blessed Jacob. Jacob later realized the stranger was God. The stranger gave him the name “Israel”

What did God ask Abraham to do?
God asked Abraham at 75 years old to leave his home land of Haran to journey to Canaan and start a new life and deepen his faith in one God. He was to lead the Chosen People to worship only one true God, while others at the time were polytheistic (many).
Tested them to see if they have changed their ways and when he realizes they have, he forgives them, gives them food to eat and allows them to stay in Egypt.
How Joseph treated his brothers when they were reunited.
Joseph possessed a gift. What was it and how did it help Pharaoh?
Joseph could interpret dreams and figure out the meaning behind them. He told the Pharaoh that his dream meant that they would have 7 years of good harvest and then 7 years of famine. He advises the Pharaoh to collect and store food during those good years so the people will not starve during the famine. He becomes the Pharaoh’s right hand man and governor of all of Egypt.

This helps us build our trust in God and believe in Divine Providence. It deepens our communion with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. In the Our Father, we ask God to give us our daily bread, forgive us, help us to forgive others, help us turn away from sin and temptation. We are trusting that God will guide our lives and so that when evil things happen to us, he makes them work for good if we cooperate with him.
How does praying the “Our Father” help us build trust in God?

Joseph’s brothers were envious of the fact that he was Jacob’s favorite (their father). They wanted to kill him but instead Judah and Rueben (2 of his brothers) suggested selling him into slavery to Egypt as a caravan of travelers came through Canaan.
