Teenagers are more prone to addiction
True or False?
True.
When teens get something they want, their brains release more dopamine than an adult’s. Which means their highs are higher and from a lower base. What does Trauma do to the brain?
Trauma fundamentally rewires the brain for survival, hyperactivating the threat-sensing amygdala, shrinking the memory-organizing hippocampus, and underactivating the logical prefrontal cortex, leading to PTSD, flashbacks, and emotional dysregulation. Traumatic memories get "stuck" in the emotional center (amygdala) rather than detailed recall, appearing as intense feelings or sensory flashes, and the brain adapts to constant threat, making it difficult to return to calm states
