What happened during the story of Hanukkah?
Hanukkah commemorates the victory of the Maccabees against the Greek army, which had outlawed Jewish practices and defiled the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. After reclaiming the Temple, they found only enough oil to light the menorah for one day, but it miraculously burned for eight days.
