In the Parable of the Sower and the seed, what are the four kinds of soil? What does each

soil represent?

(a) Soil on the path: The hard ground represents someone who is hardened by sin;

he hears but does not understand the Word, and Satan plucks the message away,

keeping the heart dull and preventing the Word from making an impression

(b) The rocky soil: The stony ground represents a man who accepts the word of

God; however, his heart is not changed, and when trouble arises, his so-called faith

quickly disappears as it is not rooted in the Word of God.

(c)Thorny soil: The thorny ground represents one who seems to receive the Word,

but whose heart is full of thoughts of riches, pleasures, and lusts; the things of this

world take his time and attention away from the Word, and he ends up having no

time for it.

(d) Good Soil: The good ground portrays the one who hears, understands, and

receives the Word—and then allows the Word to accomplish its result in his life.

Discuss the following as it relates to the journey of Israelites through the wilderness led by Moses

What is Manna? 1 pt.

What were the instructions the Israelites were given on how to gather Manna

• Manna is a flakey bread

• The Israelites were commanded to gather as much as they needed for one day according

to the number of people in their tents.

• They were told not to save any for the next day because it would go bad.

• On the 6th day, gather twice as much food. (that is enough for two days)

• On the 7th day, the Sabbath day, don’t go out to collect manna. Some people disobeyed

God and went out to collect on Sabbath, but there was none to collect.

How can we be salt and light to the world around us

Salt gives flavors to the food we eat, without salt, the food is flavorless, and you won’t like

it. Through our presence, love and care we should be able to pass on the love and care Jesus

showed us, to the society around us. The other function of salt is to restrain corruption or

stop decay. By our love and our actions, we should be able to stop the decay of the society

around us by leading a life pleasing to God and be good examples and influence for good in

the society. Jesus compared his disciples to be the light of the world. Light illuminates’

darkness and removes it. Jesus is the Light of the world, those who believe in Jesus in turn

become the torch bearers or those who show light to those around them who are in the

darkness. Jesus, the Gospel, is the light of the world and we who believe in him should be

able to guide others to the light of the world.
