Grading Policies
In the Mastery Based Rubric, which is used for grading in this class, student work is weighted by assigning point values in products of this number.
What is Five?
This is where students may look before entering the classroom to see and abbreviated agenda for the day and what materials might be needed.
What is the rolling whiteboard?
Students must have this material with them at the start of class EVERY DAY.
What is a Pencil (with eraser)?
The Music Notes Newsetter, comes out (nearly) this often.
What is Monthly?
This is Ms. Q's primary instrument.
What is French Horn?
This form can be found on Google Classroom, the SCHS Music Info Hub, and in the signature of any email sent by Ms. Quiñones, and is how students communicate that there is late, make-up, or misgraded that needs to be graded.
What is the "Music Grade Correction Request Form"?
These two resources must accompany all students (regardless of their instruments) in EVERY REHEARSAL and can be placed on their stand.

This new club/activity has Ms. Q really excited about this year.
What is Mariachi Club?
This assignment category is second most weighted, at 25% of each student's final grade and has been revised for this school year.
What is "Participation & Preparedness"?
This is where students look upon entering the room for a detailed agenda, list of materials, and warm-ups, so they don't have to ask Ms. Q "What are we doing today?".
What is the TV?
Some assessments and materials will require students to have these ready to go.
What are CUSD issued Chromebooks (some assessments require "locked mode")?
Ms. Q. recommends these two Google tools to keep track of your music events and to-do lists.
What are Google Calendar and Google Keep?
What is tenth?
If a student is absent, they are expected to:
1) Review Google Classroom,
2) Discuss any missed info with their section leader or section, and
3) This third thing must be completed in order to make up lost participation credit, and must be done so within the same week of their return to school.
What is, complete the "Participation & Preparedness Make-up Form"?
Backpacks and items that are unneccesary to instructions should be stored in this location.
What is, the backpack rack/shelf outside of the classroom?
In order to allow proper posture when practicing at home, students should have this item at home.
What is a music stand?
If you're having trouble finding any document or information, this is the place you're most likely to find it if you don't see it in Google Classroom.
What is the SCHS Music Information Hub?
What is "Choir"?
This is where students find the most accurate record of their grade in the class.
What is Aeries?
Regardless of "assigned work", it is expected that students do this outside of the school day at least 3 days per week.
