  1. The salt solution in the distillation flask is heated until it boils

A fuse is a safety device included in an electrical circuit to prevent excessive current flow. A fuse has a short thin piece of wire that melts when the current flowing through it is higher than its rating.

When installing a fuse,

  1. The fuse should have a current rating slightly higher than the current an electrical appliance will use under normal conditions.
  2. A fuse should be connected to the live wire so that the appliance will not become charged when the fuse has melted.
  3. Before changing a fuse, always switch off the main power supply.
