Stop what're doing, look at Mrs. Rubow and say "Yes, Yes!".
Where do I plug in my computer?
Everyday, in the cart.
Mrs. Rubow called on me but you don't have the answer. What do you do?
Give it your best guess! Never say "I don't know".
My pencil broke while I was working. What do I do?
Put your broken pencil in the "dull drawer" and grab one from the "sharp" drawer.
I'm feeling upset. What do I do?
Before saying or doing something that might get in you trouble or hurt someones feelings, let me know, and take a 3 minute break at my desk.
Is it ever OK to interrupt Mrs. Rubow while she's teaching?
Yes, only if it's an emergency. Use hand signals to share what you need.
What if I don't know the password to my computer?
It is taped to your laptop!
How should I ask a question while Mrs. Rubow is teaching?
Raise your hand.
I need to use the bathroom. What do I do?
Go to the restroom at ALL of our class breaks. If an emergency, use the bathroom signal. BUT YOU NEED TO ALWAYS TRY.
I want to be the classroom helper. Can I?
Mrs. Rubow will change the jobs every week.
What voice level should you be on when working in a small group?
Voice level 1. Only group members should be able to hear you.
Where do I go to get started on an assignment?
Clever/Google Classroom or on paper!
How should you work in a small group with others?
Be respectful, use kind words, help others, and take turns.
What do I do when I first walk into the classroom?
Walk in at a 0. Put bookbag on hook, water bottle on the corner of your desk, and get started on any work that may need completed from the previous day.
What kind of homework will we have?
I will let you know when you have homework.
When should you use a voice level 3?
When you're outside at recess or presenting to the class.
If I'm bored or finished early can I play games?
You should be on the assigned task or you may read a book.
I have something important to tell Mrs. Rubow about my weekend but she's teaching math. What do I do?
Wait until a better time to share. Morning meeting, lunch, recess, before or after school are all good times. Math or Reading is NOT the time.
Can I use my pink marker to do all my math work?
I want to bring my phone to school. Can I?
Phones, tablets and smartwatches are not allowed.
Why should we be aware of our voice level?
Being aware helps us to create a respectful and comfortable environment for everyone.
How should you carry your laptop?
Hold with two hands under the keyboard. NOT by the screen.
I have a hard time staying seated and I move around a lot. What do I do?
Let me know and I'll move you to a seat where you can stand behind your desk. Or give you a learning tool to help you focus!
I lost both of my pencils. What do I do?
Grab one from the "sharp" drawer.
What is the reward basket?
You will be entered into a ticket drawing for good behavior, such as a clean desk or showing excellent expectations throughout the day.
