What is CODE?

A computer programmer writes code. Code is a sequenced set of instructions for a computer. The instructions tell the computer what to do.

100

What is the difference between 2D and 3D shapes?

2-dimensional shapes are 'flat', while 3-dimensional shapes 'pop out' and have more dimensions (length, width, and height!)
100

What keys on our Chromebook did we control with Makey Makey?

Arrows, Click, and Space.

Advanced Answer could include letter keys.

100

How did our Strawbees connect?

With our connectors! There were 4 different kinds of connectors - 2 prong, 3 prong, 4 prong, and 5 prong.

100

What do we do in Makerspace (and in life) if we are having a hard time completing a challenge?

FAIL FORWARD!

200

What is a LOOP?

A loop is a sequence of instructions that is continually repeated until a certain condition is reached.

(When a code is repeated!!!)

200

What is a 3D square called?

A cube!

200

What was our POWER SOURCE for Makey Makey?

Our Chrombooks!

200

What are faces?

A face is a flat or curved surface on a 3D shape.

200

How do Cubelets get their power?

A battery in the navy blue 'think' cube.

300

What kind of coding was Beaver Achiever? It was NOT text-based coding....

BLOCK CODING!

300

What is a 3D rectangle?

A rectangular prism!

300

What are alligator clips? How did we use them?

The wires allow for electricity to pass through from one object to another. We used alligator clips to connect our Makey Makey to conductive items (paper clips, celery, etc.). Alligator clips were our connectors!

300

What is an edge?

An edge is where two faces meet.

300

How do our Cubelets connect?

The Cubelets are magnetic!

400

List 5 examples of programs that use code.

ANYTHING!!!! Apps, Video Games, Websites, etc.

400

What is a 3D circle?

a sphere!

400

How did we build our CIRCUITS using Makey Makey?

Our Makey Makey boards were connected to our Chromebooks with a red wire. We then used our alligator clips to connect the Makey Makey board to our conductive materials (materials that allow for electricity to flow through - such as paper clips).

400

What are vertices?

Vertices are corners where edges meet.

400

What are the 2 important cubelet pieces to have on each robot you build?

Think (navy blue) and Sense (black)

500

What are if/else conditions?

*HINT: think back to the smoothie level*

  • “IF” the animal shown arrives at the smoothie shop, the beaver will make a strawberry smoothie.

  • When the “IF” condition isn’t met, we can look at the “ELSE” for what to do.

An if else statement in programming is a conditional statement that runs a different set of statements depending on whether an expression is true or false.

500

What shape has a 4 faces that are a triangle, and 1 face that is a square?

A square pyramid!

500

What is the definition of a material that is CONDUCTIVE? List 3 examples of conductors.

Conductors allow for electricity to pass through - examples are paper clips, humans, celery, magnets, metal, etc.)

500

How many faces, vertices, and edges are there in a CUBE?

6 faces

8 vertices

12 edges

500

What are the 3 categories of CUBELETS?

THINK, SENSE, ACT
