Exit the building; knocking only on doors that are on your way out.

Step 2: Observation:
"I got a complaint about loud noise and now that I’m standing here, I can smell marijuana, and I see that you have your smoke detector covered.
You smelled drugs outside of a room while doing rounds. You called Public Safety. What are the next steps required of CAs?
Stand by and take notes as Public Safety confronts the situation. Can call SOC if you need support.
You encounter a facilities emergency while on your last round of the day. Who should you contact?
Call Dispatch to request for emergency maintenance.
A resident gets transported to the hospital due to injury what are you supposed to due after calling Public Safety?
Make sure that SOC is aware of hospital transportation.
What can a CA do if a situation escalates?
Stay calm, direct questions towards AC, repeat instructions, say "I am just doing my job." Call SOC if students are uncooperative.
What is the secondary response for CAs during a fire alarm?
After existing the building, call Dispatch/Public Safety to ensure they know about the alarm.
Be sure residents remain 100 feet away from the building.
A student comes to you and talks to you about a bias incident. What are the steps that CAs are required to follow?
1. Gather information
2. Take pictures if possible,
3. Contact Public Safety
You finished your duty shift and go into the bathroom and find it destroyed. One sink is broken, there is trash everywhere and one bathroom stall has a broken door. What are the CA's responsibility in this scenario.
Call Public Safety. Document with photos.
Explain the Responsible Action Protocol (Amnesty Policy).
Students who seek emergency or medical assistance, including, but not limited to, a mental health crisis, medical emergency, or sexual assault, for themselves or others will not face punitive disciplinary action for personal use of alcohol, drugs, or other substances.
Students will still have to complete disciplinary actions set upon the hearing officer.
If campus officials (e.g., Residential Life staff, Augustana Public Safety/Police) intervene beforehand, individuals, or those present, experiencing an alcohol, drug, or other substance-related medical emergency will not receive amnesty.
What is expected of CAs to do after calling the SOC for a Title IX incident?
Stand by to meet with SOC after they have finished speaking with students. Submit an Incident Report.
Bill is your resident and has not been seen in a couple of days. You talked with room/suitemates, called their number and still no response. What is your next step per the CA response chart?
Contact Public Safety if not located.
A student comes to you and talks about Title XI related incident. The student is not injured or in need of immediate medical attention. Who should you call?
SOC. If student is injured call Public Safety then SOC.
