Who is Utterson and what is his role as a character?
Utterson is a friend of Dr. Jekyll's and also a detective/police officer whose trying to solve the mystery of Hyde. His role is to show us what a "gentleman" of the time would be like and he acts as our guide/representative in the novella.
Summarize the "problem" between Antonio and Shylock.
Antonio is a merchant who wants to lend his friend Bassanio some money, but has to wait for his ships to arrive. In the meantime, he borrows the money from a Jewish moneylender named Shylock. Shylock writes a bond saying that if Antonio doesn't pay him back, he will have to pay with a "pound of his flesh"
