Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins were launched into space 1969. They took off aboard Apollo 11 on July 16, from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. As they neared the Moon, their spacecraft split up into two sections. Collins was in Columbia, the command module. This is where the astronauts lived. Armstrong and Aldrin traveled in Eagle, the lunar module. It could travel from the command module to the surface of the Moon.
