Describe the Northwest ordinance. (What was it for? What was included in it? What did it outlaw? Use details!)
The Northwest Ordinance set up the steps the become a state in the Northwest Territory. You needed 500 free men to set up a government, 60,000 people to elect leaders and write a constitution and apply for statehood (Enabling Act). It also outlawed Slavery and Indentured Servants, Listed Freedom of religion and Right to Trial by Jury, and encouraged education.
