The children wanted to learn Torah, they took their books, and they went to study in the forest so that the Greeks would not find them. If they heard that the Greeks were coming, the children would take out their סְּבִיבוֹנִים and would start playing.
כַּמָּה זְמַן הֵם צְרִיכִים לִהְיוֹת דְּלוּקִים?
How long do the candles need to be lit?
הַנֵּרוֹת צְרִיכִים לִהְיוֹת דּוֹלְקִים לְפָחוֹת חֲצִי שָׁעָה
The candles must be lit for at least half an hour (after the 3 stars come out),

Why do we have a custom of eating fried foods?

גְּזֵרוֹת הַמַּלְכוּת:
א) שַׁבָּת – שַׁבָּת, שֶׁזּוֹ עֵדוּת שֶׁיֵּשׁ בּוֹרֵא לָעוֹלָם
ב) חֹדֶשׁ – חֹדֶשׁ, לִמְנֹעַ אֶת עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל מִלְּקַיֵּם אֶת הַחַגִּים
ג) מִילָּה – מִילָּה, הִיא אוֹת בֵּין עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל לַגּוֹיִים

וּמִנְהַג הַסְּפָרַדִּים, שֶׁאֶחָד מִבְּנֵי הַבַּיִת מַדְלִיק וּפוֹתֵר אֶת כָּל בְּנֵי הַבַּיִת.
Sefaradim, that one of the members of the house ignites the fires for all the members of the house.
אֵיךְ מַדְלִיקִים בִּשְׁאַר הַלֵּילוֹת?
How do we light on the rest of the nights?
וּבְכָל לַיְלָה מוֹסִיפִים נֵר מִשְּׂמֹאל, עַד שֶׁבַּלַּיְלָה הַשְּׁמִינִי מַדְלִיקִים שְׁמוֹנָה נֵרוֹת, וּמַדְלִיקִים בַּלֵּילוֹת הַבָּאִים אֶת הַנֵּר הֶחָדָשׁ תְּחִלָּה, מִשְּׂמֹאל לַיָּמִין.
and every night a left candle is added, until the eighth night eight candles are lit, and on the coming nights, the new candle is lit first, from left to right.

And because of this the chachamim of the generation decreed that there would be these 8 days that begin from the 25th of kislev, as days of joy and praise, and we light the candles by the opening of the houses every night of the eight nights, to show and reveal the miracle

וְהִזְדַּעְזְעוּ מִמַּרְאֵה עֵינֵיהֶם, הַמָּקוֹם הָיָה שָׁמֵם וְשָׂרוּף. קָרְעוּ אֶת בִּגְדֵיהֶם וְזָרְקוּ עָפָר עַל רֹאשָׁם וְהִתְאַבְּלוּ מְאוֹד
and were shocked by the sight of what they saw, the place was empty and burned. They tore their clothes and threw dirt on their heads and were very sad.
בִּכְדֵי לְהַדֵּר אֶת הַמִּצְוָה שֶׁל הַדְלָקַת נֵרוֹת חֲנֻכָּה מָה עוֹשִׂים?
To perfect the missva of Chanukah lighting what do we do?
אֲבָל נוֹהֲגִים יִשְׂרָאֵל לְהַדֵּר בְּמִצְוָה זוֹ וּלְהוֹסִיף נֵר אֶחָד בְּכָל לַיְלָה. בַּלַּיְלָה הָרִאשׁוֹן מַדְלִיק נֵר אֶחָד וּבַלַּיְלָה הַשֵּׁנִי שְׁנַיִם וְכָךְ בְּכָל לַיְלָה הוֹלֵךְ וּמוֹסִיף עַד שֶׁבַּלַּיְלָה הַשְּׁמִינִי שֶׁהוּא הָאַחֲרוֹן, מַדְלִיק שְׁמוֹנָה נֵרוֹת.
It is customary for BNY to perfect oneself in this missva and to add one candle every night. On the first night, one candle is lit and on the second
לָמָּה אָסוּר לְהוֹסִיף שֶׁמֶן אַחֲרֵי הַהַדְלָקָה?
Why are we not allowed to add oil after the lighting?
וְלֹא לְהוֹסִיף אַחַר כָּךְ מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהַהַדְלָקָה עוֹשָׂה מִצְוָה (עִקַּר הַמִּצְוָה בִּשְׁעַת הַהַדְלָקָה).
you do not need to add more later. This is because the lighting is the missva (the main missva is at the time of lighting).
מָה גּוֹמְרִים בִּימֵי הַחֲנֻכָּה וּלְכַמָּה יָמִים?
What do we say on Chanukah and for how many days?
בְּכָל 8 יְמֵי הַחֲנֻכָּה, גּוֹמְרִים אֶת הַהַלֵּל בִּתְפִלַּת שַׁחֲרִית.
On all 8 days of Chanukah, we say the whole Hallel in our tefilla.
