What spell is the new Ranger heavily incentivized to get?
1. Pass Without a Trace
2. Hunter's Mark
3. Snare
4. Dominate Beast
Hunter's Mark!
Counterspell saw a change in the new edition. Point it out in the following description:
You attempt to interrupt a creature in the process of casting a spell. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the spell dissipates with no effect, and the action, Bonus action or Reaction used to cast it is wasted. If that spell was cast with a spell slot, the slot isn't expended.
"The creature must make a Constitution saving throw"
"If that spell was cast with a spell slot, the slot isn't expended."
Also accepting no mention of upcasting.
A semi-controversial change in the new edition was changing the name from Races to..
1. People
2. Families
3. Species
4. Breeds
Species (i can live with this, personally)
In OneD&D, wizards no longer use:
1. Their Intelligence attribute for spellcasting
2. A spellcasting focus for spellcasting
3. Their Intelligence modifier to determine how many spells they can prepare
4. Their intelligence modifier to determine Saving Throw DC
They use their Intelligence modifier to determine how many spells they can prepare!
It is now a fixed amount :)
1. Works the same as in the previous edition
2. Works the same as in the previous edition, with some tweaks
3. Works significantly different than the previous edition
4 Was removed completely
Works the same as in the previous edition!
They just moved it from the spellcasting listing in a class to be an actual level 1 ability for certain classes..
In the new edition, weapons have new unique properties. Which one of the following is a real property added to the chosen weapon in OneD&D?
1. Shield Bash (shields): If an attack hits while you are holding a shield, the target is knocked prone in addition to the damage dealt.
2. Graze (greatswords): If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make that attack roll.
3. Reach (lance): This weapon adds 5 feet to your reach when you attack with it, as well as when determining your reach for opportunity attacks with it.
4. Hit and Run (bow): After you make an attack with this weapon, you can move up to half of your movement away from your target.
Graze!
(applies to glaives as well!)
Eldritch Invocations have always been a large part of playing Warlock. A new change they are making is putting this feature (originally at level 2) at a new level. When does the Warlock unlock Eldritch Invocations now?
Level 1!! (pretty neat imo but honestly WotC why do they not get their patron at level 1..)
Healing spells officially moved from one spell school to another. Which spell school were they from and which one did they move to? Points for both!
(if you guess one right and one wrong, the other person can only guess the one that was wrong)
Moved from: Evocation.
Moved to: Abjuration.
Explanation: Abjuration spells have always been protective in nature, while evocation spells have been destructive. This change makes a lot of sense!
Player housing is a part of the new features in OneD&D. What are they called?
1. Strongholds
2. Fortresses
3. Homes
4. Bastions
BASTIONS (beep boop)
The sorcerer class used to be one of the few unique spellcasting classes that DID NOT prepare spells, and had access to their entire list at all times.
True or False: Sorcerers prepare their spells in the new edition.
True!
(every class does!)
With the new edition, which spell school has the most spells, and which has the least? Points for both!
(if you guess one right and one wrong, the other person can only guess the one that was wrong)
Most spells: Evocation (109)
Least spells: Divination (33)
True of false: The new Monster Manual coming out in 2025 will include monsters from 5th Edition's expansion books.
TRUE (idk how to feel about this)
True or false: In the new edition, Rogue gets a feature that states: "Bonk an enemy on the head.."
TRUE (lol)
(send image in discord as to not have to get a jeopardylabs sub)
In the new edition, some spells are restricted by class, others are restricted by their type of spell (known as a 'source'). What are the three sources called:
1. Nature, Force, Divine
2. Arcane, Nature, Divine
3. Arcane, Divine, Primal
4. Divine, Otherwordly, Primal
Arcane, Divine, Primal!
These are in addition to class specific ones, so some spells just have a source. I don't really know why, but I assume it's so that they can only be picked by certain groups of classes (ie Divine for Paladin and Cleric)
Only one new language was added in the new edition, and this language can also be found in the real world! What is this language?
Common Sign Language!
(the word common in D&D is used to refer to the common language, so this is most likely meant to represent the most common sign language between the species of OneD&D)
