Which is considered good testing etiquette?

A) Listening to calming music

B) Noticing your neighbor is being disruptive and notifying the teacher

C) Focusing on your work and being respectful of the testing space

D) Getting up frequently to stretch because the test is loooooonnnngggg

C!

When you focus on your work, you're doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing during a test.

When you are respectful of the testing space, you are being quiet and not disrupting the other students who are also trying to focus on the test. Don't communicate with a neighbor. If you need the teacher, raise your hand! If someone is being disruptive, the teacher will handle it. Just focus on your work on the test. You got this!

Identify the main idea of the following compare & contrast text and discuss why they are comparing/contrasting it:

Have you ever heard of a body of water described as dead? The Great Salt Lake is often called "America's Dead Sea" because it is similar to the famous Dead Sea in the Middle East. Both are terminal lakes, meaning they have no outlets and only lose water through evaporation. This causes them to have much higher salt levels than most bodies of water, allowing people to float easily. Although both lakes are ancient, the Dead Sea is much larger and deeper. It's extremely high salt content prevents plant and animal life from surviving, while the Great Salt Lake still supports a unique ecosystem. Even though both lakes are salty and unusual, their differences remind us that not all 'dead' waters are truly lifeless.

Main Idea: The Great Salt Lake and the Dead Sea are alike and different

Why are they comparing/contrasting it:

- Helps the reader to see important similarities (salt levels), and important differences (ability to support life)

This text needs a strong conclusion, and you need to write it!

Eating healthy foods is important for growing bodies. Foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins help people stay strong and energized. Making good food choices can improve how people feel every day.

One reason to eat healthy is to have more energy. Nutritious foods give the body the fuel it needs to play, learn, and stay active. Sugary and processed foods do not provide the same lasting energy.

Healthy eating also helps the body grow and stay strong. Vitamins and minerals support bones, muscles, and the immune system. This helps people stay healthy and avoid getting sick.

Teachers, please determine the quality of their conclusion. Does it:

-Restate the thesis in a new way?

-Highlight the key points in the argument?

-Have a mic-drop quality closure?
