She then tells her Aunt Bertha about it, and Bertha tells her that you can't judge someone for making a mistake, but you can judge them on how they try to fix the mistake. Why is the lunch note from Audrey's mother more important to Charlie than to Audrey? What does it inspire Charlie to do the next day?

The lunch note is more important to Charlie than to Audrey because Charlie longs for her own mother to be as caring as Audrey's mom was to her and to leave her notes, or show her that she cares for her.

The next day Charlie writes a note for herself pretending it's from her mother and purposely throws it on the ground where Audrey can see it but even though Audrey sees it she doesn't care about it.
