Convection is the transfer of thermal energy through the movement of fluids (liquids or gases). In this process, warmer fluid rises while cooler fluid sinks, creating a continuous circulation pattern. An example of convection in everyday life is the heating of a room by a radiator. As the air near the radiator is heated, it becomes less dense and rises, while cooler air moves in to take its place, creating a convection current that circulates heat throughout the room.
