A solution reacts with B solution and starts to bubble.

You test it for oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide. Explain the process for these tests.

oxygen = put a glowing splint inside, and it will re-light.

hydrogen = put a fire splint inside, and it will make a 'pop' sound.

carbon dioxide = put the bubbles in lime water, and it will turn milky.

A students is trying to find the speed of sound.

Explain what the student needs and how to do this experiment.

The student needs a hard surface for sound to reflect.

They need a ruler to measure the distance and a timer to record the time.

They make a sound and record its echo.

Do the math: speed = 2d/t

A girl is mad at her crazy brother and yells very very LOUD!

She hears an echo by a nearby building that is 100 meters away.

The echo takes 0.625 sec.

What is its speed.

speed = distace / time

echo d = 2d so; s=2d/t

2(100m)/0.625 sec.

s=320 m/s
