Types of Assessments
A scoring tool that lists the criteria for judging a particular type of work
What is a rubric?
A student’s assessment of his or her own learning
What is self assessment?
A simple list of items to note, check or to remember when evaluating learning
What is a checklist?
A question which has a list of answers, only 1 of which is correct
What is a multiple choice question?
Students’ assessment of each other’s learning
What is peer evaluation?
A method of assessing learning other than through testing; also called authentic or performance assessment
What is an alternative assessment?
A teacher who is experienced and skilled who is assigned to a beginning teacher
Who is a mentor teacher?
A statement that is correct or incorrect.
What are true/false questions?
An ongoing part of instruction that provides feedback about students’ learning as it occurs
What is formative assessment?
Making judgments about how well a course meets its standards or goals and what improvements would make it better
What is a course evaluation?
A collection of a student’s work selected to show growth over time, highlight skills and achievement, or show how well the student meets standards
What is a student portfolio?
students compose an extended written response.
What is an essay question?
A list of characteristics or factors to use when evaluating learning
What is a scorecard?
An evaluation of students’ learning after instruction has taken place; assesses whether students are meeting learning outcomes or objectives
What is summative assessment?
Assessing student learning informally by relying on content or performance rather than data
What is an informal assessment?
Require the learner to label or locate the parts on a diagram.
