Temperance worked to ban alcohol by connecting it to homelessness and poverty. Temperance is very important because men who drank a lot were spending too much on the alcohol so that they couldn't responsibly support their families correctly.

They wanted religious freedom and financial opportunities.
In what ways was there a continuing problem that would need to be dealt with later?
The states still thought that they could nullify/reject the federal laws that they thought were unfair, but Andrew Jackson said that they couldn't do that.
The states were wanting to see if they could have more power over the government.
