What is weather?
Weather is currently happening in the atmosphere.
What types of words do we use to describe the weather?
Sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy, hot, warm, cold are words we use to describe weather.
How would you measure the wind speed?
I would count the number of turns an anemometer makes in one minute and compare that number to other data to see if it was considered fast or slow.
Why do meteorologists track the weather?
Meteorologists track the weather, so they can make predictions about future weather.
How do you explain the rise in temperature between morning and noon and the decline in temperature after noon?
The Sun is the lowest in morning and evening, so the temperature is lower at those times. The temperature rises as the Sun rises and then decreases as the Sun sets. The Sun is the most direct at noon so that is usually the hottest time of the day.
What tool shows wind direction?
A wind vane shows wind direction.
Why do we care about the weather?
Knowing what the days weather will be like helps us to decide what to wear, how to get places, and what we can do outside.
How can you measure the amount of precipitation during a rainstorm?
You can measure the amount of precipitation during a rainstorm by placing a rain gauge in an open area and then reading the measurement after the storm.
Whats the relationship between temperature and precipitation?
The temperature determines what type of precipitation will fall.
Why is weather different in different parts of the world?
The location of a place determines the weather. For example, the places near the ocean are usually warm and have more rain than places far from oceans. Also, the further from the Equator, the colder the area is.
What does an anemometer measure?
An anemometer measures wind speed.

If I went outside and everything was wet, I would infer that it had just rained.
