What is the first thing you should do when you enter the Learning Commons?

What should you do if you have a book that is due but you are not finished it yet?
Either return it or come in and renew it.
Do you throw, rip, stomp on, draw on, eat on, or drink near library books?
No
What do you call the type of books that are stories? (not information books)
Fiction
Does the LC have a limit for the number of kids allowed in at lunch and recess?
No, as long as everyone is being safe, respectful and purposeful, everyone is welcome.
How many books can one student check out at once?
6 (but that can be negiotiated)
How you can tell if we have a certain book in the LC?
Search for it on the student search station iPad, before asking an adult.
Can you let a friend borrow your library book after you have finished it?
No. You are responsible for the books you borrow. You can come in with the friend and return the book and if nobody has a hold on the book then they can borrow it.
What section of the library has books with the call numbers?
Non Fiction section aka The Stacks
If we have an idea for a book or game the LC should have, how do we make the our suggestion?
Fill out the clipboard at the circulation desk.
What electronic device is not allowed in the library?
A phone
Where do I check out my library books?
At the circulation desk.
What do I do if I have lost a book?
Come talk to Ms T or Isabel. You are responsible for paying for a lost book or replacing it with a copy of the same book.
How do I find a book in the non-fiction stacks?
Read the call numbers and/or look at the images on the end of each stack to help you find the correct section.

Where do we return books?
The drop off slot in the hallway.
How long can I borrow a book for?
Three weeks
What do you do if you want to borrow a book we have but somebody has already checked it out?
Ask Ms To or Isabel to place a hold on it.
What section in the library has books about real people and their lives.
The biography section
Does the LC have any supplies I can borrow if I happen to forget something?
Yes we have the Hawks Supply Station trolley at the end of the circulation desk. Please return anything you borrow before you leave the LC.
What happens if we don't put our games away properly?
They go to Game Jail for a week.
How will I know if a book I borrowed is overdue?
Overdue emails are sent out at the end of each term or you could come in and ask Ms T and Isabel.
Can I add to the "One More Chapter" wall?
Yes, just ask for a page from an old book and create. Ideally we'd love a character or setting from a book, but we will take any drawing that fits with our theme.

What are the expectations for lunch and recess?
Be safe, purposeful and respectful. Games, reading, chatting, drawing are all accepted activities.
