What is a run-on sentence?

A run-on sentence occurs when two or more complete sentences are joined together without proper punctuation or a connecting word. This can make the sentence confusing and difficult to understand.   

Here's an example of a run-on sentence:

To fix this, we can separate the two independent clauses into two sentences:
